Robbery victim jumps out of a moving vehicle

Staff Reporter

FOUR suspects are on the run after their attempt to rob a 28-year-old female passenger ended in failure when she screamed and jumped out of the moving vehicle.

The victim, a resident of the Ekolanaambo village, was travelling from Ongwediva to Adolf Location at around 22:40 on Tuesday.

The police said that she boarded a white Mazda hatchback with four male occupants, which was not a marked taxi.

The victim informed the police that the vehicle was driven recklessly, bumped into a public water meter, and bypassed the Oshiko roadblock before her fellow “passengers” and the driver ordered her to surrender her cellphone, which she did. She then started screaming for help, jumped out of the moving vehicle, fell to the ground, and had to be taken to hospital for medical attention.

The driver did not stop.

However, an alert road user who observed the unfolding drama decided to chase the Mazda, forcing the suspects to abandon the vehicle and flee on foot.

It was then discovered that the number plates on the front and rear (N770-177SH) did not match the number displayed on the disc (N75284W).

The vehicle was impounded, and the police are looking for the suspects.
