NAMIBIANS who have applied for identity cards and who have not yet collected them are urged to do so at their office of application or request for their documents to be transferred to the Home Affairs office nearest to them.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, there are currently 62,565 uncollected ID cards which were applied for between April and September.
The request to collect ID cards was made on the occasion of the commemoration of International Identity Day, which is observed annually on 16 September to raise awareness about the importance of legal identity for everyone.
The day focuses on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 16.9, which calls for a legal identity for all by the year 2030.
