MINISTER of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Frans Kapofi, and Special Advisor on Presidential Affairs, Christine ǁHoebes, visited the homestead of the late Retired Lieutenant General Solomon ‘Jesus’ Hawala on Thursday to extend their condolences.
The delegation, led by Kapofi, also included Oshana Governor Hofni Iipinge.
Kapofi indicated they had come to pay their respects to the former head of the Namibian Defence Force, who died at the age of 89.
Speaking to the media, Kapofi said they had come to convey the condolences of the president and the entire nation to the bereaved family.

“He was our commander. We were together in many jungles during the liberation struggle, such as Zambia, Angola, and inside the country,” he said.
Kapofi added that the government has yet to decide whether a state funeral will be accorded to Hawala.
At this stage, he said no burial arrangements are up for discussion.
Former PLAN combatants also sent delegations to pay their respects.
Hawala is survived by his wife, retired Colonel Laimi Hawala, and six children.
