THE Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, is currently in Antananarivo, Madagascar, to participate in the SADC Council of Ministers Meeting, held in preparation for the 45th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The Minister arrived in Madagascar on Sunday, 10 August, and was received by Dr Rasata Rafaravavitafika, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar. The Council of Ministers Meeting forms part of a series of preparatory engagements leading up to the 45th SADC Summit.
“The Minister will also lead the Namibian delegation to the Ministerial Committee of the SADC Organ Troika on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, which will precede the Summit of the Organ,” Salom Ismael, the Ministry of International Relations and Trade’s Media Foreign Administration Officer of Info and Research, said.

Ismael highlighted that the 45th SADC Summit will take place from 16 to 17 August 2025, bringing together SADC Heads of State and Government, Ministers, senior officials, and regional stakeholders to review progress and reaffirm their commitment to regional integration.
“The 45th SADC Summit is being held under the theme, “Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation, and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC,” and will focus on accelerating regional integration through key pillars: strengthening industrial capacity and regional value chains, modernising agriculture, and promoting an inclusive energy transition, all aimed at building a resilient, sustainable, and cohesive SADC region,” Ismael added.
