AUS in the //Kharas Region once again experienced light snowfall today, just a few weeks after similar conditions were reported in the area earlier this year.
The snowfall was captured in videos shared by Piet Swiegers, showing snowflakes gently falling in Klein Aus earlier this morning.
Meanwhile, several southern areas also experienced rain showers, including Oranjemund, Kanebis and Fish River Canyon. Even parts of the Namib Desert received some rainfall this week.

These wet and cold conditions are the result of a frontal cold air mass that swept over the southern parts of the country, bringing rain and frosty weather to many areas.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Services, more showers are expected tomorrow, particularly in the south. Keetmanshoop, in the //Kharas Region, is among the locations forecast to receive additional rainfall.
The rainy conditions will be accompanied by notably cold temperatures. Aus and Karasburg in the //Kharas Region, along with Mariental in the Hardap Region, are expected to see temperatures drop to 0°C.
However, the cold snap isn’t limited to the south. The central, eastern and Otjozondjupa regions are also forecast to experience particularly cold weather, with widespread frost expected. Minimum temperatures between 0°C and 2°C are predicted for places such as Windhoek in the Khomas Region, Gobabis in the Omaheke Region, and Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region.
