QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine unveils safety PPE gear

QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine has launched its new line of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as part of its ongoing commitment to workforce safety and operational excellence.

Company spokesperson Tuafi Shafombabi said the upgraded safety gear was officially unveiled during a recent safety awareness event held at the mine site.

Shafombabi explained that this initiative comes at a time of remarkable growth for the mine.

Since 2021, she indicated that the workforce has more than doubled from approximately 380 employees to 788 employees and 512 contractors in 2025.

“This expansion not only underscores the mine’s operational success but also highlights its growing contribution to Namibia’s local economy,” she said.

She added that the new PPE range, which includes enhanced high-visibility clothing, was developed in close collaboration with safety experts and frontline workers.

Shafombabi explained that the goal was to ensure that all equipment meets stringent industry standards while remaining practical and effective for day-to-day use.

“This rollout is about more than just safety; it’s about demonstrating to every employee that they are seen, heard, and protected,” she added.

Shafombabi said that the initiative reflects the mine’s broader commitment to responsible mining, social impact, and global best practices.

By reinforcing its safety-first culture, she said Navachab continues to position itself as a leader in Namibia’s mining industry and a responsible employer dedicated to the well-being of its people.
