NNN reminds SWAPO’s sister parties of the plight of Western Sahara and Palestine

Placido Hilukilwa

PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah reiterated the SWAPO Party’s strong solidarity with the people of Western Sahara and Palestine and their respective causes, and demanded urgent international action to end their suffering and injustice.
Speaking in her capacity as president of the SWAPO Party on the occasion of the Liberation Movements Summit 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Sunday, President Nandi-Ndaitwah said theirs are the national liberation movements that emerged across the African continent, fought against colonialism, apartheid, and oppression, carving pathways toward freedom and self-determination.
“While we have achieved our political freedom and independence,” she said, “we are reminded of the plight of the people of Western Sahara and Palestine to exercise their right to self-determination, sovereignty, and freedom.”
She, on behalf of the SWAPO Party, extended revolutionary greetings to SWAPO’s historical allies: “the National Liberation Front of Algeria, the Communist Party of China, Communist Party of Cuba, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the United Russia Party, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua, and all those who stood with us during our fight for political independence.”
She assured “our Cuban comrades” of Namibia’s consistent support and called for the total removal of the unjustifiable economic embargo by the United States.
She said that the theme of the Johannesburg summit — “Defending Liberation Gains, Advancing Integrated Socioeconomic Development, and Strengthening Solidarity for a Better Africa” — is well crafted to serve not only as a rallying call but also as a roadmap to our collective and shared future.
