Namibia and India have signed several key agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in a range of sectors, including health, agriculture, cybersecurity, culture, digital transformation, geology, and energy.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised that the signing of these bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) reflects the growing and strengthening relationship between the two countries. She made these remarks during the official State Visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi — his first visit to Namibia — which also marks 35 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

“This visit marks the conclusion of a number of key agreements aimed at facilitating partnership and collaboration in sectors such as health, agriculture, cybersecurity, culture, digital transformation, geology, energy, among others. Through the Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC), between our two countries we will oversee and monitor the implementation of the MOU’s we have signed and identify other areas of cooperation,” President Nandi-Ndaitwah added.
Key agreements signed during Prime Minister Modi’s visit include an MoU on Cooperation in Cybersecurity, as well as another focused on the sharing of successful digital solutions implemented at population scale for digital transformation. These agreements aim to enhance digital governance, drive innovation in emerging technologies, and promote cybersecurity initiatives.
Additionally, the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology and the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST) signed an MoU to collaborate in the field of agricultural science and technology. Other signed agreements include an MoU on Cooperation in the Field of Health and Medicine and another for the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) in Namibia.
“This visit is the affirmation of the enduring and strategic partnership that is founded on shared values of democracy, development and international solidarity. The bond between our two nations has been forged during both our struggles for independence and subsequently, nation building. We are pleased to gather here today in recognition of that friendship and solidarity that exists between Namibia and India,” the president added.
