First laboratory review confirms Fabupharm products meet safety and quality standards

Staff Reporter

THE first of the laboratory reviews of Fabupharm’s Children’s Paracetamol Syrup has now become available, confirming that the products meet all applicable safety, quality and regulatory standards.

This follows recent media reports in Namibia which raised concerns about the quality and safety of Fabupharm’s Children’s Paracetamol Syrup, suggesting that the product may be of inferior quality and potentially life-threatening.

In response, Fabupharm said these allegations were made without supporting evidence or any scientific evaluation. The company immediately commissioned a comprehensive, independent verification of the Children’s Paracetamol Syrup by two certified laboratories to test the claims.

Fabupharm has now confirmed that the first independent review found the syrup fully compliant with all relevant safety, quality and regulatory requirements. The company said it awaits the results of the second independent review and expects them to be consistent with the first.

Both Fabupharm’s internal quality control and the independent tests conducted by QSL Laboratories confirm that the Children’s Paracetamol Syrup is within international standards and specifications.

Fabupharm said that the independent review demonstrates its commitment to public health and consumer confidence, reaffirming that at no point was the safety, efficacy or formulation of its products, including the widely used Children’s Paracetamol Syrup, in question.

The company added that it has worked closely with the Namibian Medicines Regulatory Council (NMRC) throughout this process and remains committed to upholding the highest pharmaceutical standards.
