Ndeitunga praises NNN’s “already visible” excellent performance

PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has made an excellent start with her mantra of “business unusual”. The urgency and rapid pace of performance in her administration are already visible.

This was said by former Governor of the Ohangwena Region, Sebastian Ndeitunga, on his last day in office.

Ndeitunga’s replacement, Kadiva Hamutumwa, was announced by the President on Tuesday.

Ndeitunga urged all Namibians to support the President as she takes the country to “the highest levels of development and prosperity.”

In his parting shots, Ndeitunga highlighted what he described as the “notable accomplishments” during his 19-month governorship and also enumerated the socioeconomic challenges that the region faces, including water scarcity in the eastern parts of the region and a poorly developed road network in six of the region’s eleven constituencies, namely Omulonga, Eenhana, Omundaungilo, Oshikunde, Epembe, and Okongo.

He said that those constituencies also experience inadequate telecommunications network coverage, making seamless communication difficult, if not entirely impossible, in some areas.

He pointed out that Ohangwena is prone to floods and droughts just like many other places in Namibia.

According to him, drought typically affects the entire region, while floods mainly impact the western constituencies — Ohangwena, Engela, Ongenga, and Endola. Occasionally, the Ondobe and Omulonga constituencies are also affected by the floods.

Ndeitunga, who was the Namibian Police Force’s Inspector-General until his retirement in 2022, was appointed governor by the late President Hage Geingob in 2023.
