Couple accused of defrauding Absolute Tours and Safaris appear in court

JOHANN and Charlene Trédoux, a husband and wife accused of defrauding a tourism company, Absolute Tours and Safaris, appeared in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today, with more evidence suggesting that the couple may have stolen more than the initial N$1 million they were accused of illicitly transferring from the company.

It is now suspected, following further investigations, that the couple stole around N$2 million from the company.

Charlene Trédoux, who was the head of the Accounts Department and had access to Absolute Tours and Safaris’ business accounts, is accused of transferring large amounts of money from the company to her husband Johann’s business account.

“Company suppliers informed us that they never received the funds from these electronic fund transfers processed by Charlene Trédoux. The funds were instead transferred to the account of Ngatha Brokers cc, a Bank Windhoek account linked to Johann Trédoux, Charlene’s husband,” her former employer, Beckert Jochen, said.

The matter was postponed to 30 October 2025 for further investigations, and both of the accused are out on bail on the condition that they report to the Klein Windhoek Police Station in the capital every Monday and Friday.
