A TRAGIC single-vehicle accident on the gravel road between Wilhelmstal and Omaruru on Friday evening claimed the life of one man and left four others injured.
Erongo police spokesperson, Inspector Judith Shomongula, said the incident occurred around 18:20, approximately 100 meters from the Wilhelmstal turn-off.
According to Shomongula, the 25-year-old man was driving a Mitsubishi Triton double cab with four passengers when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
“The bakkie rolled multiple times, ejecting all five occupants,” she said.
She added that a 29-year-old man sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
The deceased was identified as Peter Jeromi Kumeni.
Shomongula noted that the driver and three other passengers suffered light to moderate injuries. They were transported to Okahandja State Hospital.
She indicated that three of the injured passengers were discharged, while the driver remains hospitalized.
The next of kin of the deceased have been notified.
