During his visit, High Commissioner Shrivastava is focusing on the “India Wing” at the campus to assess its needs and explore avenues for further assistance.

This significant visit notably coincided with the International Day of Yoga, an event globally promoted by India.

Petrina Johannes, the Campus Director, highlighted the diverse and growing student body at the UNAM Engineering Campus.

She revealed that a remarkable 30% of the students hail from international countries, and 40% of the engineering students are women — showcasing a commitment to inclusivity and gender diversity in STEM fields.

According to Johannes, the campus has experienced substantial growth since its establishment in 2009 with just 30 students. Today, the student population has surged to over 1,000.

“We have about 700 students who have graduated since the establishment of the campus,” she said.

The UNAM Engineering Campus in Ongwediva offers a comprehensive range of Bachelor of Science in Engineering with Honours degrees, including Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Mechanical, and Metallurgical.
