THE Namibian Police have made a number of drug-related arrests across the country since Friday, including a drug bust valued at over N$17,000 in the //Kharas Region.
The majority of these arrests took place in the South.
In one incident, two men were arrested in Oranjemund on Friday for possession of cannabis and suspected cocaine, valued at N$17,250 in total. The police revealed that the suspects, aged between 35 and 37, were arrested after a tip-off led to an intelligence-led operation.
In another incident, the police arrested a 54-year-old woman in Aroab on Friday night for possession of cannabis and Mandrax worth N$60.00. The substances were reportedly found in a cooler box in her possession during a search.
This was not the only drug-related arrest that took place in Aroab over the weekend.
In another case, the police arrested a 29-year-old man for possession of cannabis in Aroab on Saturday. The substance was also found in his possession during a search.
The police also arrested a 24-year-old man in Koës for possession of cannabis on Friday, which was also found in his possession following a search.
The South was not the only area affected by drug arrests this weekend.
The police also arrested a 34-year-old man in Mbambi village, Ncaute, Kavango East, for possession of cannabis on Saturday. The cannabis was found in his possession during a search conducted on him.
