OMAGONGO PROGRAMME: Under the theme “Preservation of Our Culture and Strengthening of Our Unity”, the 2025 Omagongo Cultural Festival is being hosted by the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority (OuTA). The festivities started on Friday and will reach their highest point when President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah officiates at the event this morning.
The programme starts early, with the general public expected to arrive at or before 08:00, while members of cultural groups are expected to arrive at 08:30, followed by invited guests and dignitaries at 08:35.
All the traditional leaders arrive at 08:45, followed at 08:50 by Omukwaniilwa Fillemon Nangolo of the Ondonga Traditional Authority and Vice Chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders.
Ohangwena Regional Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga and Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare arrive at 09:00 and 09:05, respectively.
Former President Nangolo Mbumba arrives at 09:10, President Nandi-Ndaitwah at 09:35, and Meekulu Nelumbu at 09:40.
Besides the keynote speaker, other speakers at the official event include Chief Herman Iipumbu of the Uukwambi Traditional Authority, who will deliver a presentation on the history of the Omagongo Festivals.
Lutheran Bishop Hilja Nghaangulwa will say the opening prayer, while Anglican Bishop Patrick Djuulume will say the closing prayer.
