THE Ambassador of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Namibia, Ana Beatriz Martins, expressed keen interest in continuing collaborations with the City of Windhoek, particularly through initiatives focused on revitalising the city centre with street art and expanding green spaces through tree planting.
Speaking during a recent meeting with Windhoek Mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja, the Ambassador expressed her appreciation for the ongoing partnership between the EU and the City of Windhoek, emphasising its longstanding and productive nature.
She highlighted several successful joint projects, notably the Waste Buy-Back Centre in Katutura, which enables residents to contribute to environmental sustainability while earning an income through recycling. Martins also welcomed the imminent completion of a second Waste Buy-Back Centre, a project financially supported by the EU.
Moreover, the Ambassador reiterated the EU’s commitment to community development efforts in Windhoek, citing support for the Shack Dwellers Federation, urban greening projects in Katutura, and public street art initiatives. She reaffirmed the EU’s strong commitment to fostering sustainable development and strengthening community resilience in the city.
