SWAPO Party Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said it is critical that they prepare properly and aggressively for this year’s Regional and Local elections.
Nandi-Ndaitwah made the remarks during a closed-door session of the Central Committee meeting held on Saturday.
According to Nandi-Ndaitwah, these elections matter a lot because they will determine who will be at the forefront of service delivery in their communities.
“The leaders we are going to field for elections at the Regional and Local levels are the ones who will implement our policies and programs on the ground, ensuring that the promises made in the SWAPO Party Election Manifesto are fully realized,” she said.
She stressed that it is crucial to focus on selecting capable, committed, and visionary leaders who understand the needs of the people and will work tirelessly to improve their lives.
Nandi-Ndaitwah added that the success of their governance as a ruling party depends on the strength of their Local and Regional leadership.
She said that without strong leadership at every level, their ability to govern effectively is weakened.
Therefore, Nandi-Ndaitwah said they must go into these elections well-prepared, organized, and most importantly, united. The 2024 election should serve as a hard-learned lesson.
“We must all be aware of our individual efforts to canvass support during the 2024 election campaign,” she added.
Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed that every structure of the party, affiliate organizations, and every member has a role to play in ensuring SWAPO Party’s victory.
She indicated that this is not just the responsibility of a few—it is a collective responsibility of the entire leadership, rank, and file.
Further, she said they must be on the ground, engaging with the people, reminding them that the SWAPO Party has fought for their interests and well-being and will continue to do so. Moreover, quality service delivery must be the guiding principle at all times.
