ONGWEDIVA Town Mayor Taarah Shalyefu said the late Founding President Sam Nujoma was a man of action who walked the talk and, above all, a charismatic commander who led with vision and determination.
Shalyefu indicated that Namibians have indeed lost a father, but although he is gone physically, his legacy lives on. He urged all Namibian people to emulate the selfless and unifying character of the late Nujoma to make Namibia great.
“Nujoma is well known as a father figure, liberator, and unifier who, when he came back from exile, pronounced the policy of national reconciliation so that brothers and sisters could unite during those difficult times,” he said.
He added that it was Nujoma who led the liberation struggle, especially during those days when it was not fashionable to do so, yet he led the Namibian nation in fighting the apartheid regime.
Furthermore, Shalyefu indicated that Nujoma was known as a decisive leader, a straight talker who called a spade a spade but was also quick to praise excellence.
He stressed that the family and the Namibian nation should find solace in the beautiful memories that Nujoma shared with all of them.
