Namibians mourn Founding President

THE Ongandjera community joined the rest of Namibia in honouring the memory of Dr. Sam Nujoma at Etunda in the Okahao area on Sunday.

Nujoma was described by many as a man dedicated to the service of his people, a liberation hero, and a people’s person.

Ongandjera King Johannes Mupiya said that they were not only mourning the passing of the Founding President but also celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of a national hero.

Speaking at Nujoma’s residence at Etunda in the Okahao area on Sunday, Mupiya said they were mourning the passing of a true liberator.

“Nujoma’s unwavering dedication to the freedom of the Namibian people will forever be etched in our history,” he said.

He further described the late president as not only a hero but also a father figure to the entire nation.

Speaking at the same occasion, former ELCIN Bishop Josafat Shanghala stated that Nujoma was a spiritual leader called by God to serve the Namibian people.

“Nujoma was a man of faith who led the Namibian people to victory during the liberation struggle. He kept his faith always, and that faith led him to free Namibians,” he said.

According to Shanghala, Nujoma had run his race, completed his journey, and has now gone to rest.

He added that Nujoma was a God-fearing leader who made time for church services whenever possible.
