THE National Para-Championship is currently underway in Oshakati, aiming to identify talent across different sports codes.
Agnes Hausiku, Vice-President of the Namibian Paralympics Committee, said that the games have returned after nearly a few years of absence.
According to Hausiku, the games kicked off with wheelchair basketball, powerlifting, goalball, and blind football, while athletics will take place on Saturday at the Oshakati Independence Stadium.
“The aim is to identify various talents during the para-sports event to represent the country at the next international Paralympic Games,” she said.
She said that they also intend to select a national team for men and women in different sports codes to represent the country on various international stages.
The games started on 5 February and will conclude on 8 February 2025.
