THE Ondangwa Town Council on Thursday handed over an amount of N$50,000 to King Kauluma Palace Football Club following their victory as winners of the North West First Division.

In 2024, the Council resolved to donate to KK Palace FC after they won and qualified to participate in the Namibia Premiership.

Officially handing over the donation, Deputy Mayor of Ondangwa, Ester Awala, said that KK Palace is a community team that depends on financial contributions from the community for travel, accommodation, food, and players’ allowances, hence the Council’s decision to donate.

According to Awala, KK Palace’s participation in the country’s elite league is a significant contribution to the Council’s objective of enhancing local economic growth and the development of Ondangwa and its people.

“We believe that this token of appreciation acknowledges the good community work that the team is doing and its impact on the youth of the town,” she said.

She then called on all stakeholders to support the team, either morally or financially.

Accepting the donation, KK Palace FC Exco Board Vice President, Fillemon Vatilifa, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Ondangwa Town Council for extending a helping hand to the club.

Vatilifa assured that the funds would be put to good use for the intended benefit of the players.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ondangwa Town Council, Ismael Namgongo, said that the construction of the Ondangwa Sports Stadium is progressing well.

Namgongo indicated that the state-of-the-art facility will be a valuable asset to the community, providing a space for people to participate in and enjoy a variety of sports.

He emphasized that their goal of hosting games before the end of 2025 provides a clear timeline and something to work towards.
