THE Chief of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), Martin Kambulu Pinehas, is suing Omuthiya local authority councillor Nghipudilo Shiindi of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) for alleged defamation of character.
In summons dated 16 January 2025, Pinehas alleges that on 27 November 2024, Shiindi circulated a message on social media claiming to be aware that Pinehas held a meeting with the NDF top brass at the Grootfontein military base. During the meeting, secret plans were allegedly hatched, and orders given. Shiindi reportedly warned that Pinehas would be held responsible should anything happen to IPC leader Panduleni Itula.

Pinehas, through his lawyers, Sisa Namandje Legal Practitioners, said that the allegations were malicious and intended to damage his reputation.
The lawsuit follows at least three similar cases in which prominent IPC members were separately and successfully sued for defamation of character.
