A FEMALE passenger died instantly, and six other occupants of a white Toyota seven-seater were injured when the vehicle overturned on the B1 main road between Tsumeb and Oshivelo on Friday afternoon.
According to the police, the accident occurred about 40 kilometres from Oshivelo when the vehicle’s right rear tyre burst. The driver lost control, and the vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof.
The passenger who died on the spot was identified as Victoria Haihambo, a 22-year-old resident of Ongwediva in the Oshana Region.
Two passengers sustained serious injuries, while four other occupants, including the 32-year-old driver, suffered minor injuries.
The eighth occupant of the overloaded seven-seater escaped without a scratch.
All the survivors were transported to Tsumeb’s Lombard State Hospital for medical attention.
