The fires in the USA is seemingly under control and the world is holding its breath that guns can be silenced in the Middle East and Russian/Ukrainian battlefronts.
The age of instant news always holds the risks of losing context or memory and recent human trauma. One of the sad reminders of devastation and human tragedy is the lingering images of destruction in the wake of the Los Angeles fires. For perspective of the scale, Informanté published the iconic photo of the Hiroshima A-bomb damage in 1945 (80 years earlier) next to what is left after the flames from hell hitting Los Angeles. Informanté also share images of the devastation of shack fires from Aussenkehr at the Southern Border, to Katutura in the Capital City, Windhoek and the notorious regulars disasters at the Coastal settlements of Walvis Bay. Whether the billionaire mansions of California or the shacks of the poor the losses don’t discriminate.
Add the cruelty of wars and the devastation of bombs in Palestine, Gazza, Ukraine, Sudan, DRC, Mozambique and Syria the images hopefully are a sober reminder that anyone can expect disaster anytime and everywhere. The best is to be ready or to be ready to take care of your neighbour, who that might be.
