ONESI Constituency Councillor Festus Petrus has called on communal farmers in his constituency to start ploughing while it is still raining.
Petrus said they should not wait for another rainy season but begin now to ensure food security and avoid relying on the government’s drought relief program.
“If we produce our own food, the government can channel the drought relief funds to other essential programs,” he said.
Furthermore, he indicated that they have received four tractors from the Ministry of Agriculture, which are available to those who have registered.
He said that the tractors can be rented for N$350 per hectare, and those who have not yet registered can still do so at their constituency office.
