AMERICAN President Joe Biden arrived in the Angolan capital, Luanda, this (Monday) evening. His first act was a meet-and-greet with the U.S. embassy staff in Angola.
An official welcoming ceremony will take place on Tuesday, followed by bilateral talks with Angolan President João Lourenço. Biden will then deliver a speech at the National Museum of Slavery.

On Wednesday, he will travel from Luanda to Lobito in the coastal Benguela Province, where he will take a guided tour of Lobito Port and visit a food processing plant. He will also participate in the summit of the Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor, a 1,344-kilometer-long railway line connecting the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia to the Angolan port city of Lobito.
Meanwhile, Biden’s visit to Angola has prompted the ruling party, the MPLA, to postpone its 8th Extraordinary Congress. Initially scheduled for 6 to 7 December, it has now been rescheduled to 16 and 17 December.
