The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) will officially announce the preliminary results of the National Assembly and Presidential elections later today, following the closure of the extended polls.
This was revealed by the ECN’s Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer, Peter Shaama, who confirmed that the commission has already begun verifying and compiling results at collation centres in all constituencies, with the process now at an advanced stage.
“After the polls closed in many areas of our country and the vote counting at various polling stations was completed, the Commission began verifying and compiling results at the collation centres in all the 121 constituencies. This process is followed by the upload of these results through our Election Results Management System to the Central Election Results Centre,” he said.
Shaama highlighted that the commission has assigned dedicated personnel to oversee the results transmission process from the collation centres to the Central Election Results Centre, thereby ensuring efficiency.
“We anticipate that the preliminary results will be available shortly after the close of extended polls, and we aim to formally start announcing these results today. We understand the public’s eagerness for this information and are working diligently to ensure accuracy prior to any announcements. We commit to keep the public updated at every significant milestone,” Shaama added.
