ELECTION results from Namibia’s foreign missions abroad have started trickling in.
The easternmost cities of Tokyo and Beijing, which are eight to nine hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, were the first to post results.
The ruling Swapo Party and its presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, have taken the lead in Beijing, where 38 Namibians voted. The three candidates who received the most votes were:
- Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah (25),
- Panduleni Itula (6), and
- Job Amupanda (4).
Swapo obtained 24 votes, while the AR and IPC received seven and four votes, respectively.
Only ten Namibians voted in Tokyo, Japan, and all gave their vote to the Swapo presidential candidate.
In the National Assembly race, only two parties received votes in Tokyo: Swapo (7) and AR (3).
