Athletes’ representatives invited to attend 2024 Athletes’ Representative Forum

Staff Reporter

THE Namibia Athletes’ Commission has announced that it will host the 2024 Athletes’ Representative Forum in Windhoek on 16 November, encouraging all athlete representatives from national federations to attend.

“The Namibia Athletes’ Commission is dedicated to amplifying and supporting Namibian athletes. Through advocacy, education, and forums like the Athletes’ Representative Forum, the Commission works to create an inclusive and athlete-centred sports environment in Namibia,” the Commission said.

The Namibia Athletes’ Commission outlined that the event will address key topics, including effective athlete representation, the principles and importance of fair and transparent election processes, identifying common challenges across sports, developing a communication strategy for athlete representation, and setting goals and timelines to enhance communication.

“This event invites athlete representatives from all Namibian national federations to a dynamic forum focused on strengthening athlete advocacy and representation within sports governance. The forum will feature guest speakers Dr. Ndeulipula Hamutumwa—an author, corporate strategist, business leader, and passionate sports enthusiast—and Shoki Kandjimi, a specialist in corporate communication and public relations. Both will offer valuable perspectives on effective representation, communication strategies, and leadership in sports,” the Namibia Athletes’ Commission added.

The event will be moderated by Olympian Maike Diekmann, Chair of the Namibia Athletes’ Commission, and supported by Romio Goliath, an active wrestler and Vice Chair of the Commission. Together, Diekmann and Goliath will lead discussions to ensure a productive, athlete-focused day of learning, collaboration, and strategic planning.
