THE Namibian Police Force in the Oshana region has arrested a 36-year-old man for possession of smuggled fuel at Ondangwa.

Oshana Crime Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, said the suspect was caught around 10:30 at the Tsumeb taxi rank in Ondangwa on Saturday.

Ndjadila indicated that the suspect faces charges of contravening Section 3A (1) a, b, c of the Petroleum Products and Energy Act, Act 13 of 1990, for possession and selling of fuel without a permit.

“It is alleged that the suspect was found in possession of and selling fuel without a permit in a white Opel Corsa,” he said.

He added that the police confiscated three 25L containers full of fuel, one 25L container half filled with fuel, two empty 25L containers, four empty 5L containers, and a cash amount of N$680.

Ndjadila indicated that all items were booked in as exhibits under POL 7, reference number POL 7-343/2024.

The suspect was arrested and formally charged and is expected to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court this week.
