THE Velnell Metal and Scrap Yard in the Okandjengedi informal settlement of Oshakati has helped the Namibian police arrest two suspected copper cable thieves, who now face charges of illegal dealings.
The suspects, aged 27 and 33, were arrested on Friday afternoon when they tried to sell copper cables to the scrap yard. However, they were unable to prove ownership or the provenance of the copper.
The police were notified, and the two were arrested on the spot. They are expected to appear in court on Monday.
The copper cables are valued at N$920.
