THE need to be vigilant, even when swiping your credit or debit card at a cashier, was recently highlighted in Outapi, Omusati Region, when a mini-market customer ended up losing over N$45,000 after his card was swapped during the swiping process.

Nuukanga Titus Aitembu, a 47-year-old resident of the Twaloloka location in Walvis Bay, went shopping at a mini-market in the Onhimbu location of Outapi, where an unknown suspect stealthily exchanged his credit or debit card during the swiping.

According to the police, the suspect went straight to an ATM and withdrew N$45,805 from the victim’s account.

The suspect has not been arrested, and the stolen money has not been recovered.
