Rainfall expected in the north this week

Staff Reporter

THE relentless heat that has affected the northern parts of the country for the past two weeks is expected to end this week, as several northern regions are forecast to receive rainfall.

According to the Namibia Meteorological Services, the Ohangwena, Oshana, Zambezi, and Kavango regions can expect a few isolated thundershowers on Tuesday. Rundu is highlighted as one of the areas anticipating isolated showers from Tuesday night until Thursday, while Ondangwa is expected to receive rainfall on Thursday.

The Namibia Meteorological Services also predicted that some areas in the Otjozondjupa Region are likely to see rainfall on Tuesday. Most other parts of the interior are expected to be partly cloudy, warm to hot, and windy. The coast is also predicted to be partly cloudy and warm, accompanied by occasional patches of fog.

A few places in the Otjozondjupa Region, such as Grootfontein, Otjiwarongo, and Otavi, have already experienced light rainfall over the past few days. A few areas in the Omaheke and Khomas regions have also witnessed light rainfall recently. For those who could not witness these showers in person, several photos and videos of the weekend’s rainfall have been shared on social media.
