Swapo to present N$85.7 billion budget over five years to combat high unemployment

THE Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Frans Kapofi, has said that the Swapo Party recognizes the urgency of delivering services to citizens and creating employment opportunities. To address this, the party will commit to a budget of N$85.7 billion over five years for projects aimed at creating job opportunities for the youth.

He added that this will be achieved through establishing factories and manufacturing plants.

Kapofi made these remarks at a mini-rally held by the Swapo Party in Windhoek West, where he emphasized a significant paradigm shift in business under the capable leadership of presidential candidate Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

“We should turn up in numbers to vote for our presidential candidate, a mother, a freedom fighter, a very honest and humble person. Our candidate has all the credentials and attributes required of a leader. Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah is a remarkable leader who has been groomed and prepared for this assignment in the crucible of our liberation struggle. Her love for Namibia and its people is an attribute unmatched by any candidate on the ballot. We should all rally behind her by giving her our votes so she can win decisively. Comrades, our commitments to the voters are not mere rhetoric; we have examined the issues, reconciled our manifestos over the years, and devised a realistic approach to advancing this country and improving people’s lives,” Kapofi said.

He added that, having governed Namibia for the past 34 years, Swapo has the experience to know that they cannot make empty promises to win votes, unlike parties with no experience in running the country.

“We draw the wisdom to govern from our experience in government. The opposition can only plagiarize from us because they lack the experience of what governing a country entails. For instance, I heard one opposition leader declare housing an emergency—something our late President Dr. Hage G. Geingob already addressed. While they have the democratic right to oppose us, we equally have the right to exist, to govern, and to defend ourselves. We will not shy away from highlighting Swapo’s achievements and its leadership for making Namibia the envy of the world,” Kapofi said.
