OMUSATI Regional Governor Erginus Endjala has expressed his heartfelt condolences for the passing of Chief Daniel Shooya, the respected and long-serving head of the Uukolonkadhi Traditional Authority, who passed away at his official residence at Onesi on Thursday.
The 100-year-old Shooya had been in poor health and bedridden in recent years.
Endjala described the late Chief Shooya as one of the strongest pillars of the eight traditional authorities of Aawambo, who made immense contributions towards upholding, promoting, and strengthening traditional norms, unity in diversity, and social harmony.
“His passing is a great loss not only to the Uukolonkadhi traditional community but to the Omusati Region and Namibia as a whole,” said Endjala.
He added, “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and to the Uukolonkadhi traditional community. As we mourn together the passing of this great leader, we equally celebrate his life and the innumerable contributions he made.”
The late Chief Shooya was one of the Namibians who participated in the Second World War and served as the Minister of Works in the Owambo administration.
