CAMPBELL Kafita Sililo, well-known as “C-square,” from Ongenga in the Ohangwena Region, is a contemporary musician who has devoted his time to making music.
Over the past few years, he has explored a variety of music genres, hoping to send a message of hope to his fellow youth.
Sililo, 26, began making music in 2016 while studying at Haimbili Haufiku Secondary School. He released a few singles and performed at his school’s talent show, making his mark in the music industry as an upcoming artist at the time.
According to Sililo, after completing Grade 12, he moved to Windhoek to pursue his musical career. He later released his first album, Zero to Hero, with 19 tracks, featuring both established and upcoming artists as well as producers.
“After releasing my album, I took a two-year break from working on a second album and focused only on singles,” he said.
In 2022, C-square released a collaborative album with 32-year-old Ndjaleka Rubeni Shidute, also known as DJ Kwanza, titled Feel at Home. The album, featuring 21 tracks, marked the start of a promising duet.
Unlike Sililo, DJ Kwanza’s interest in music began in 2008, starting as a DJ and dancer. He later released singles that gained recognition across the Ohangwena Region.
Today, the duo, known as C-square and DJ Kwanza, have released their second album together, titled Golden Tears, with 20 tracks featuring a number of established and upcoming artists and producers.
“Our music mainly focuses on motivating people to work hard independently, empowering the youth, and addressing issues like gender-based violence and the abuse of drugs and alcohol,” Sililo added.
He emphasized that he started singing because music has been one of his hobbies since childhood, and he believes that through his songs, he can touch many hearts and inspire individuals with his unique sound.
