THE government remains committed to economic emancipation for the people through the hosting of trade fairs.
This was according to the Minister of Finance and Enterprise, Iipumbu Shiimi, during the official opening of the 3rd edition of the Oshikuku Trade Fair on Tuesday.
This year’s trade fair is hosted under the theme “Oshikuku Creating Opportunities for Socio-Economic Growth for Investors.”
According to Shiimi, this fair provides an opportunity for participants to gain something of value.
“I therefore urge you all to embrace this opportunity and ensure that the Oshikuku Annual Trade Fair continues to grow and remains an annual event not to be missed,” he said.
He emphasized that they should view this trade fair as a platform with the potential to attract investment in the town.
Shiimi stressed that improved investments lead to employment opportunities, increased economic activity in town, and ultimately better living conditions.
“It is therefore crucial that this trade fair receives the necessary support from all of us so that we can collectively build our economy and develop our localities,” he added.
He highlighted that through collaborative efforts, Oshikuku can attract investment and create a conducive environment for socio-economic development, ensuring employment opportunities for the youth, improved public services, and social amenities essential for a better livelihood.
Town Mayor Julia Endjambi indicated that through this trade fair, Oshikuku is creating opportunities for investors to invest in the town and promote its socio-economic growth.
“Once the economy grows, we believe there will be more opportunities for business and employment, leading to a better standard of living for our people,” she said.
Endjambi explained that this year’s edition is the first hosted by the Oshikuku Town Council with the direct involvement of the community. The fair is now known as the Oshikuku Annual Trade Fair, and the Council has decided to host it within the town boundaries.
She urged all stakeholders, exhibitors, and residents to continue supporting this event, which will feature on the Council’s annual events calendar, saying that Oshikuku can only be transformed and developed through their support and involvement.
