TWO men, aged 31 and 35, were arrested on charges of stock theft after they were found selling dried cattle meat in Tsumeb.

Oshikoto Community Policing Sub-division Chief Inspector Ellen Nehale-Kangulu said the incident occurred on Wednesday in the Kuvukiland location.

According to Nehale-Kangulu, an intelligence-driven operation was conducted following information about dried cattle meat, suspected to be stolen, being sold from a residence in Kuvukiland.

“Upon arrival, police found two suspects actively selling dried cattle meat, which was hidden in a certain ghetto. The suspects were unable to explain how the meat came into their possession,” she said.

She added that the suspects were also found with N$630 in cash, believed to have been generated from the sale of the suspected stolen meat.

Nehale-Kangulu indicated that both suspects were arrested at the scene, with the dried cattle meat valued at N$10,000.

She added that both suspects reside in Tsumeb and are scheduled to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court.
