PRESIDENT Nangolo Mbumba recently highlighted several of SWAPO’s achievements and assured that, under the future leadership of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the party aims to deliver even more benefits to all Namibians.

“Vote our Vice President, Comrade Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, as our first female President of Namibia. She is the best leader and choice to continue the SWAPO Party leadership legacy and improve our lives. She is trusted, tried, and tested. Now let us all get ready to vote for the SWAPO Party and Comrade Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on 27 November. Under Comrade Nandi-Ndaitwah’s leadership, we will continue to consolidate the gains we have made so far and, with renewed vigour, take Namibia and its people to greater heights of continued peace, stability, and prosperity,” he said.

The President made these remarks at the SWAPO Party Star Rally that recently took place in Swakopmund, where he highlighted the party’s commitment to combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and enhancing protection for women and girls through increased awareness and prevention initiatives over the next five years.

The President also emphasised the need to strengthen the accountability framework to ensure that all civil servants and political office bearers are held accountable. He mentioned that SWAPO plans to allocate additional resources to priority projects aimed at creating mass employment opportunities, particularly for unemployed youth. Furthermore, he said, the party intends to increase financial support for the National Youth Fund to empower young people.

President Mbumba also highlighted SWAPO’s intention to improve teacher benefits to attract skilled professionals to peri-urban and rural areas. He assured attendees that the upgrading of national sports facilities would be prioritised, along with the establishment of basic and international sports facilities across all regions.

He added that the revival of the national airline will be pursued with effective strategies while avoiding past mistakes and highlighted that the promotion of locally produced goods, especially within government schools, hospitals, and the Namibian Defence Force, is another key goal for the party.

The President also announced plans to enhance support for orphans and vulnerable children, as well as improve old-age pensions, disability, and veteran grants. He also revealed intentions to develop and implement the Targeted Basic Income Grant (TBIG) to assist the most vulnerable members of society who do not qualify for existing social grants.

President Mbumba outlined the party’s plans to implement the National Minimum Wage Policy to ensure fair compensation and decent wages. He said that they also intend to urgently address the concerns of those living in farm corridors, continuing to follow the recommendations of the second Land Conference while expediting the promulgation and implementation of the Land Law to ensure that leaseholds in communal areas can access financing.

“As a party, we are ready to deliver. As cadres, we are ready to deliver. Our presidential candidate is ready to deliver. Therefore, go to the polls in your hundreds of thousands and vote to give the SWAPO Party and its presidential candidate, Cde Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the mandate to govern for the next five years,” President Mbumba added.
