VICE President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has emphasised the urgent need to enhance public-private collaborations to ensure that people in both urban and rural areas have access to digital media and broadcast information.
“By investing in digital infrastructure and research, fostering local talent, and promoting a culture of continuous learning, we are laying the foundation for a future where Africa could lead in technological advancement,” she said.
She made these remarks at the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA) Broadcast Media Conference, which recently took place in Swakopmund under the theme “Broadcasting and Content Publishing in the AI-Infused Digital Ecosystem.”

Nandi-Ndaitwah revealed that over 90% of the population has access to radio, while more than 2 million people have access to mobile connectivity in Namibia. She added that, while this is a positive step forward, further efforts are underway to ensure that all schools have access to digital connectivity to enhance teaching and learning.
The Vice President assured that the government will continue to support and harness digital transformation to propel our socio-economic development and create new opportunities for our people.
“Our commitment to this vision expands beyond borders, resonating with the aspirations of neighbouring countries, many of whom share this transformative journey with us,” she added.
