RESIDENTS of the Mix Settlement on the outskirts of Windhoek received their food parcels for drought relief for September and October on Tuesday.
The food parcels contained two bags of maize meal, four tins of fish, cooking oil, and 1.5 kg of fresh beef.
The Office of the Prime Minister said the food delivery was delayed last month because the truck had broken down.
According to the Disaster Coordinator for the Khomas Region, Fabian Oscar Hiskia, beneficiaries received food for two months due to the delay caused by transport issues.
“Our truck went in for repairs last month, which caused a minor delay in dispatching food to the beneficiaries. The truck is now fine and ready to hit the road,” he said.
Hiskia further indicated that they will ensure all beneficiaries who missed their parcels last month will receive them for September and October respectively.
