OLD Mutual and Nawa Pharmacy handed over sporting gear to Mwadhina Gwanembenge Combined School to support the school’s tournament.
The tournament is expected to take place this weekend at the UNAM Oshakati Campus sports ground.
As part of their sponsorship, Old Mutual donated two netball balls and medals for both netball and soccer, valued at N$2,000.
Meanwhile, Nawa Pharmacy handed over four soccer balls, valued at N$1,300.
Speaking at the handover, Nawa Pharmacy representative Christofina Mbango indicated that they are glad to give what they can for the successful hosting of the tournament.
Mbango stressed that students need not only to study hard in school but also to stay physically fit through sports, with the hope of representing the country on the African stage.
Meanwhile, School Principal Immanuel Aron expressed deep gratitude for the sponsorship, emphasizing its importance for the tournament.
“As a school, we don’t have enough funds to host the tournament, and we deeply rely on our stakeholders to ensure our children are given a platform to showcase their talents,” he said.
He added that the school not only focuses on teaching but also provides learners with a platform to compete in sports.
The tournament attracted a total of 37 teams: 20 boys’ soccer teams, seven girls’ soccer teams, and 12 netball teams.
The school has invested N$20,000 to ensure the successful hosting of the tournament.
