THE Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA Fund) will commence its community outreach program in the Zambezi Region on Monday.
Known as the MVA Fund on Wheels, the weeklong program will see the MVA Fund’s team visit towns and villages across the region, including areas such as Bukalo, Ngoma, Masokotwane, Sangwali, Mubiza, and Kongola.
According to a statement issued by MVA Fund Chief Executive Officer Rosalia Martins-Hausiku, the outreach program aims to bring road safety to the people and further instill the importance and value of road safety awareness within communities.

Martins-Hausiku mentioned that while the Fund has strategically located service centers across the country, there are still a few underserved communities.
“The MVA Fund on Wheels program allows the Fund to take its offices to the people. The team will also assist the communities with claims, allowing clients in the region to query their claims, submit new claims, and learn more about the benefits and services offered by the Fund,” she said.
She added that the outreach features various initiatives focused on pedestrian, passenger, and tire safety.
Martins-Hausiku indicated that through these interventions, the Fund interacts with school learners to ensure they have a safe journey to and from school and know how to use the road safely. In addition, the Fund visits bus terminals and loading zones, where they conduct passenger safety initiatives.
“This allows the team to interact directly with passengers and public transport drivers and educate them on general road safety, vehicle roadworthiness, and tire safety, among other things,” she added.
She invites members of these communities to participate in the outreach program as it continues these engagements throughout the country.
Moreover, she said parents, teachers, community leaders, and concerned citizens are urged to support and attend, as they can help make a significant difference in fostering a culture of road safety.
The outreach program is facilitated by the Zambezi Regional Council.
