NAMIBIA and Kenya have committed to intensifying efforts to promote closer cooperation in various areas, including the exchange of skills, technologies, and human capital.
This was highlighted by Dr Peya Mushelenga, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, at the Namibia–Kenya Diplomatic and Political Consultations taking place in Windhoek this week.
“During our deliberations, we have committed to redouble our efforts to promote closer cooperation in the areas that we have identified as critical. Namibia believes in South-South cooperation. Increased South-South cooperation could transform the livelihoods of our peoples. Sharing skills, technologies, and human capital will fast-track the acceleration of our projects,” the minister said.
He further emphasised that the Namibia–Kenya Diplomatic and Political Consultations mark a significant step towards deepening ties between the two nations.
“Our bilateral relations have been revived, strengthened, and deepened. This is a moment we can all be proud to have achieved,” he said.
Mushelenga urged officials attending the consultations to focus on the practical implementation of existing agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to deliver tangible benefits for both Namibian and Kenyan citizens.
“Our challenge now is to implement the decisions we have taken into concrete programmes with tangible outcomes for both our people. Diplomatic and political consultations should be a continuous endeavour. As we engage with one another, and others on the global stage, let us continue to engage through our diplomats, telephone calls, and special envoys when confronted by major decisions with the potential to impact both our countries’ peoples,” Mushelenga added.
