AN ARMED robbery ended in failure, and all three suspects were arrested, thanks to a small boy who managed to sneak out of the house and alert people at nearby shebeens.
The incident occurred at a traditional homestead in the Onankulo village, Ondangwa policing area, on Thursday evening.
It is alleged that three armed suspects jumped over the perimeter wall and attacked the inhabitants of the house.
According to the police, at least two individuals sustained injuries—one on the right shoulder and the other on the right arm.
The suspects, aged 39, 54, and 58, demanded and were eventually given the keys to a N$600,000 Toyota GD6 2.4 that was parked at the homestead.
Meanwhile, a boy sneaked out of the house and ran to nearby Ondikita shebeens to alert members of the community, who reacted quickly and caught the suspects in the act.
The robbers were reversing the vehicle out of the homestead when community members arrived at the scene. The suspects fired a shot into the air to scare the public, but to no avail. They fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.
A wild chase by community members, later joined by the police, culminated in the arrest of all three suspects in Ondangwa. They were found in possession of two pistols and twelve rounds of ammunition.
