NamPol promotes and transfers officers in Oshana

THE Namibian Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo, said he took serious note of the prevalent crimes in the Oshana Region, ranging from domestic violence, theft, housebreaking, robberies, assaults, and stock theft.

Shikongo was speaking during the inauguration and handover of Onawa police station and the handing over of decentralized Build Together Program houses on Friday.

According to Shikongo, the prevalence of crimes in the region gives them sleepless nights.

“We should, therefore, intensify our crime prevention efforts and work closely with the community to ensure that all criminals are rooted out of our society,” he said.

He added that they should streamline their approaches to meet public expectations in terms of safety and security.

Shikongo indicated that one of their strategies to achieve this is to create a conducive environment for police officers to live in, including the provision of accommodation, office space, equipment, and other resources.

Hence, Shikongo said that the newly acquired police station is a step in the right direction.

During the same occasion, Shikongo also promoted seven officers from the ranks of Sergeant to Warrant Officer and Inspector, while 34 officers were transferred to Onawa police station with immediate effect.
