A MAN who robbed a 23-year-old woman of her cellphone and stabbed her three times was hit by a car while fleeing the scene and was eventually subdued and handed over to the police.
According to Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, Media Liaison Officer with the Namibian Police, the aggravated robbery incident happened on Wednesday, 28 August 2024, at around 11:55 on Sam Nujoma Drive, opposite Orban Primary School.
“It is alleged that a Namibian female, aged 23, was robbed of her cellphone after being stabbed three times in the back and right arm by a male suspect who then tried to escape. The suspect was hit by a vehicle traveling along Sam Nujoma Drive in an east-to-west direction and sustained slight injuries. After being hit, the suspect managed to get up and ran into the riverbed but was later caught by a member of the public. The suspect was subsequently arrested,” Kuwinga said.
He added that the victim was taken to Katutura Hospital for treatment by E-Med Rescue Ambulance, as she sustained moderate injuries. The Galaxy A04e cellphone, valued at N$3,000, which was stolen, as well as the knife used to stab the victim, were recovered. Police investigations continue.
