SOME parts of the country are already experiencing a preview of the cold and rainy conditions expected in several regions this weekend and next week.
This is particularly noticeable in the Otjozondjupa Region, where Okahandja and Otjiwarongo recently had cloudy weather and light rainfall. Although no heavy rainfall has been reported yet, Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that this weekend will likely bring some thundershowers to the interior, especially in the southwest.
However, it’s not just rainfall expected this weekend.
Namibia Meteorological Services also predicted that there will be a drop in temperatures by Sunday. The western, central, and southern parts of the country will likely be affected by these cold conditions on Sunday and Monday. Windhoek in the Khomas Region and Keetmanshoop in the //Kharas Region are expected to see minimum temperatures ranging from 0°C to 1°C by Monday.
Crop and small stock farmers in the areas forecast to be cold over the next few days are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their crops and animals from the weather.
As for the coast, partly cloudy and foggy conditions are expected to persist this weekend. Walvis Bay in the Erongo Region, in particular, will likely be cloudy and foggy from Saturday to Monday.
