MINISTER in the Presidency Christine //Hoebes said that exhibitions such as this one are important for the socio-economic development of Namibia, as they positively impact the country’s economy.
//Hoebes made the remarks during the official opening of the 14th edition of the Eenhana Trade and Business Expo on Wednesday. She said that by attracting exhibitors and participants from various regions within Namibia and beyond, these events create a diverse pool of opportunities and interactions that drive economic growth and foster collaboration.
Initiated in 2008, the Eenhana Expo has grown to become a cornerstone in the Eenhana Town Council’s efforts to market the town as a preferred investment destination and a stepping stone for many SMEs to trade their products nationally and across borders.
“The Eenhana exhibition has continued to serve as a beacon for investors looking for economic opportunities in various sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and services,” she said.
//Hoebes said that the Namibian government remains steadfast in its commitment to support initiatives such as the Eenhana Expo.
Furthermore, she indicated that the government’s commitment is demonstrated by the presence of various Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (OMAs) as exhibitors. Their presence affords business people the opportunity to directly engage ministry officials for information required to operate businesses in compliance with government requirements.
At the same occasion, //Hoebes indicated that the exhibition takes place against the backdrop of the challenging reality that the Ohangwena Region, where the town of Eenhana is located, is heavily affected by drought.
However, she said that the government is committed to providing support to farmers, households, and livestock across the country.
“I urge those requiring assistance to reach out to the various government offices in the region,” she said.
She also urged those entrusted with the responsibility of providing this aid to do so with the utmost empathy and timeliness.
