A FUEL tank truck driver was arrested in the Kavango-West Region on Saturday when he was allegedly caught stealing the fuel he was transporting.
A case of theft by an employee from an employer was registered at the Mururani police station after a 56-year-old suspect was allegedly caught in the act in Tcove village along the Grootfontein-Rundu main road shortly after midnight.
It is alleged that the suspect, who is a VDP fuel truck driver, broke the tank’s seal and was stealing the fuel and selling it to other motorists when the police suddenly appeared.
The buyers fled the scene, leaving behind three vehicles loaded with containers of fuel, which were promptly impounded.
About 1,000 litres of diesel, valued at N$22,070, were stolen from the tanker but were recovered on the spot.
